ABOUT

I am an Associate Professor of Political Science at Providence College. I conduct research in the areas of American state politics, federalism, and political parties/elections, often analyzed from a historical perspective. My work has appeared in political science journals including PS: Political Science and Politics, New England Journal of Political Science, Studies in American Political Development, Social Science Quarterly, American Review of Politics, Electoral Studies, and American Politics Research. I also occasionally write for popular audiences, and am frequently quoted as an expert on state and local politics in Rhode Island and Massachusetts media outlets. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013.
